Dominican salsa singer Jean Jorge gains momentum
Dominican salsa singer Jean Jorge (JJ), based in Canada, is experiencing a defining moment in his career, solidifying his place as one of the strongest emerging voices in contemporary salsa. With praised performances in the Dominican Republic, international nominations, and two singles in Monitor Latino’s Top 10, he continues to expand his artistic reach with style and Caribbean flair.
His latest single, “Te quiero, mi amor,” holds the #6 spot on Monitor Latino, highlighting his vocal strength and distinctive sound. Meanwhile, “Una vez más” climbed to #10, making Jean Jorge the first artist of the new salsa generation to place two original tracks—both written by Miguel Méndez—on the Dominican charts simultaneously. He expressed gratitude for the public’s support, noting how meaningful it is to see both songs connect so strongly with listeners.
Jean Jorge has also earned three nominations at the Latin Awards Canada: Male Singer of the Year, People’s Choice, and Tropical Song of the Year. His recognition reflects his dedication to promoting salsa from the diaspora and the warm reception of his music among Latinos in Canada and abroad. Additional nominations in Colombia and standout performances—including International Salsa Day—further affirm his passion and Dominican identity.
Based in Montreal, Jean Jorge blends romantic and classic salsa elements, building a growing fan base at home and within the diaspora, and establishing himself as one of today’s most promising Dominican salsa voices.
