U.S. Ambassador Campos: “When we stand together, we are stronger”

Santo Domingo.- The American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) held its December luncheon featuring U.S. Ambassador Leah Francis Campos as guest speaker and guest of honor. In her keynote address, titled “United States and the Dominican Republic: Security, Strength, and Prosperity,” Campos highlighted the long-standing strategic partnership between both nations. She emphasized mutual respect, shared democratic values, and the importance of cooperation in areas such as education, public health, and security. “When we stand together, we both become stronger,” she said, underscoring that true allies support each other’s sovereignty and priorities.

Campos centered her remarks on three pillars. On security, she stressed the need to combat illicit financial activities to protect jobs, institutions, and community safety. On economic strength, she reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting U.S. business interests while expanding reciprocal trade. She noted growing opportunities in nearshoring and the Dominican Republic’s increasing role in the U.S. semiconductor supply chain. Under shared prosperity, she praised Dominican institutional progress and expressed her intention to promote greater economic opportunities through joint initiatives.

The luncheon was sponsored by companies from the AMCHAMDR Elite Circle, including Citi, Grupo Rica, Barrick Pueblo Viejo, Inicia, AES Dominicana, Grupo Puntacana, Claro, and others.
