Santo Domingo.- Indotel, in partnership with National Geographic, premiered the documentary “The Last Secret of Cleopatra” on Wednesday, highlighting groundbreaking research led by Dominican archaeologist Kathleen Martínez. The production offers fresh perspectives on the life, legacy, and mysterious death of Egypt’s last queen.

Martínez, internationally recognized for her years-long search for Cleopatra’s tomb, has contributed discoveries and theories that place her work among the most important archaeological efforts of the 21st century. During the event, Minister of Women Mayra Jiménez praised Martínez for redefining long-held assumptions about Cleopatra and for embodying determination, academic rigor, and the strength of Dominican women.

Jiménez emphasized national pride in Martínez’s achievements, noting that a dedicated room in the Egyptian Museum displays artifacts recovered by her team. Martínez shared updates on the project, stating that it is entering its final phase and that her team believes there is still much left to uncover, including several missing pharaonic tombs from the Greco-Roman period.

Sra Martinez is a strong woman who does not take no for an answer. When she approached Zahi Hawass, Egypts Minister of Antiquities, to ask permission to explore certain ruins. He said no because she was a lawyer, not an archaeologist, She refused his answer noting to him she is a lawyer and archaeologist. She was persistent and won him over. Her persistent behavior has paid out with the great discoveries she has made regarding Cleopatra. Bravo for her!
