Verón-Punta Cana Councillor alleges assault by Coco Bongo security
Verón-Punta Cana.- Dionicio López, Councilor of the Verón-Punta Cana Municipal Tourist District, has filed a formal complaint against security agents at the Coco Bongo nightclub after being physically assaulted. López was recording an act of violence against tourists when security personnel allegedly attacked him, causing injuries including blunt trauma to his cervical, lumbar, and frontal regions, as well as hematomas.
Jonase Carpio, López’s lawyer, condemned the aggression, describing it as part of a pattern of abusive behavior by nightclub security staff. Carpio vowed to pursue justice, emphasizing that economic power would not deter their efforts. López urged authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly and implement measures to ensure the safety of both residents and tourists in Verón-Punta Cana.
The councilor framed his fight as part of a broader commitment to creating a secure environment in the region, highlighting the importance of accountability for incidents that threaten public safety.
