Asonahores: Punta Cana to open exclusive trade fair space by 2026
Santo Domingo.- Punta Cana will have a dedicated convention center for fairs and exhibitions starting in 2026, according to Aguie Lendor, executive vice president of the Dominican Republic’s Hotel and Tourism Association (Asonahores).
The announcement comes amid the growth of the Asonahores Trade Show, which in 2025 featured 145 companies across 116 stands. Lendor noted that about 40 companies were unable to participate this year due to space limitations, highlighting the high demand for such events. The expansion of the trade show area at Blue Mall is under consideration, and future editions could potentially be held in a new convention center in Santo Domingo.
Participation in the trade show included hotels from Puerto Plata, Santiago, Santo Domingo, Bayahibe, La Romana, Juan Dolio, and Samaná, as well as international companies from Spain, Mexico, Italy, Costa Rica, and China. Lendor emphasized that this global interest underscores tourism’s vital role as one of the Dominican Republic’s key economic drivers.
