Wage hikes of 90% irk Puerto Plata’s inhabitants, media report

Santiago. – Members of Puerto Plata’s City Council raised their wages as high as 90 percent, to the rebuked of the community’s inhabitants.Local media report that the Mayor’s salary increased from RD$90,000 to RD$150,000, whereas the Deputy Mayor and Council members jumped from RD$50,000 to RD$90 000.

The motion presented by councilman Ramon Suarez, of the opposition PRD party, was challenged by mayor Walter Musa, who refuses to accept it, according to citysantiago.com.do.

It reports that the salary hikes proposed by officials belonging to the PRD were rejected by representatives of the allies PRSC and PLD parties.
