Puerto Rican kingpin ‘abreast of everything that happens in Dominican Republic’

Santo Domingo.- The lawyer for Sobeida Felix, Puerto Rican kingpin Jose Figueroa Agosto’s paramour, on Thursday revealed that the drug trafficking convict is abreast of everything that happens in Dominican Republic, even before many Justice Ministry officials.

Felix Portes said Figueroa "communicates with him daily via email” and "I informs me of matters that happen here that nobody knows about."

"Figueroa Agosto is very concerned about the young women leaving the prison; he keeps me informed of all developments, he tells me about what is happening here" the attorney said, in reference to Felix, Mary Pelaez and his former wife Leavy Nin Batista.

Interviewed on Supra FM, Portes said Figueroa’s health "is slightly affected, with high pressure, but is very optimistic about his release."

Citing the case of Ramon del Rosario Puente (Toño Leña), Portes noted that if Dominican prosecutors delegated the case to U.S. courts, they cannot complain about the ruling.

He also denied that Figueroa is a double agent. "These are speculations that I don’t understand, if he was they would’ve tried to kill him."
