Soft judges should go to church for forgiveness, feisty priest says

Santo Domingo.- Feisty priest Santiago Bautista yesterday affirmed that the venal judges should go to church to ask for pardon, because they haven’t done a good job.

The head of Las Mercedes church parish referred to Supreme Court Chief Justice Mariano German’s call on judges to leave their benches if they hand down rulings based on fear, personal whim, friendship, familiarity, convenience, conspiracy or money.

In another topic, Bautista called on the authorities to provide more protections for the churches, after denouncing that burglaries have increased nationwide.
