Alleged member of dangerous Haitian gang caught in Dominican Republic

Police members of the Northern Regional Directorate apprehended in the Padre Granero sector, in the province of Puerto Plata, a Haitian man nicknamed Yeye, who allegedly belongs to one of the most dangerous gangs in Haiti called “5 Segundo.”

The police report indicates that the gang has been tasked with taking the lives of hundreds of civilians in the neighboring country.

“Thanks to the work that the director of the Northern Regional Directorate has been doing since day one, it was possible to capture this member of this gang,” said the police.

It should be noted that members of an armed gang burned alive former senator Yvon Buissereth in Laboule 12, a conflict zone in the upper part of Port-au-Prince where two journalists were killed last January.

The Port-au-Prince prosecutor, Me Jacques Lafontant, went to the crime scene, where he confirmed that Buissereth, the general director of the Public Company for the Promotion of Social Housing (EPPLS), was killed and burned by members of the Ti Makakak gang.

The former senator died aboard his vehicle, which was completely burned, an event that has already been condemned, among others, by the Haitian Prime Minister, Ariel Henry.

“I strongly and unreservedly condemn the barbaric act perpetrated yesterday by armed gangs in Laboule against the director general of the EPPLS, Yvon Buissereth, former senator of the Republic,” he wrote on his Twitter profile this morning.

Henry warned the assassins of the former senator and “all other criminals who sow mourning in the country that they will be prosecuted to their last entrenchment and will have to answer for their ignominious acts in court.”
