More traffic cops to prevent accidents on east region roads

Santo Domingo.- The national traffic police (AMET) on Monday started the work to prevent accidents along the highways of the country’s east region, during the annual pilgrimage tomorrow Tuesday to Higuey, revered site Virgin de Altagracia.

AMET chief Juan Geronimo Brown said he will personally supervise the entire operation that includes hundreds of vehicles and motorcycles patrolling the entire 200-kilometer span formed by the Las Americas and Coral highways, and Eastern Motorway. "All of the country’s roads will be closely monitored by transit agents."

He said to prevent accidents patrols will also be heightened along the roads to the city of San José de Ocoa (south), where La Altagracia day is also celebrated.
