Assaults at all hours plague the ‘Zone’: Colonial City bars

Santo Domingo.- The Colonial City’s bar owners grouped in ABZOCOL on Tuesday called on National police chief Manuel Castro and of the Tourism police director Amilcar Fernandez to take action to maintain the area’s public safety, to halt the spate of assaults they say occur at all hours during the last few days.

The bar owners say the situation poses a threat to the high number of tourists and locals who visit the “Colonial Zone,” and halts the effective growth of businesses.

They note that security is a key component to the success expected when the Zone’s current remodelling works conclude.
