UNICEF hosts business seminar on early childhood, climate change, and sustainability

Santo Domingo.- UNICEF recently hosted its VIII Business Seminar titled “Early Childhood, Climate Change, and Sustainability,” which brought together the Dominican business community to address the impacts of climate change on children under five and explore solutions through public-private partnerships.

Anyoli Sanabria, UNICEF Deputy Representative in the Dominican Republic, emphasized the urgent need for action, noting that over one billion children globally face extreme risks from climate change. She highlighted that 88% of climate change-related morbidity affects children under five, framing this as a critical children’s rights issue. Sanabria reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to enhancing the resilience of children and their communities while fostering collaboration across sectors to ensure a safer, more sustainable environment.

Max Puig, Executive Vice President of the National Council on Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanisms, underscored the importance of integrating children’s rights into climate change adaptation strategies to support sustainable human development.
