President Abinader neutral on U.S. election

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader avoided favoring either Republicans or Democrats in the upcoming U.S. elections, stating his preference is “whoever wins.” During his weekly press conference, he highlighted the strong relationship between the United States and the Dominican Republic, irrespective of which party is in power.

“When I assumed office in 2020, the Republican Party was in power, and we had a very good relationship with then-President Donald Trump. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo even attended my inauguration,” Abinader noted. He also praised the current cooperation with the Democratic administration of President Joe Biden.

Abinader emphasized that the Dominican Republic seeks a peaceful election process in the U.S. and is committed to maintaining strong relations with whichever party wins. He recalled expressing concern when Trump was attacked during a political event in Butler, Pennsylvania, highlighting solidarity with the broader American society.

As the U.S. prepares for its presidential election in November, former President Trump is running as a Republican candidate, while Democrats are initially rallying around Kamala Harris after President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the race.

My exact thought. Let’s pray that Trump wins, I surely will be voting red this November. Democrats can go to Hell.

Hey DCamp21, “Democrats can go to Hell“. Really? That’s part of the problem with the toxic partisanship and name calling that promoted today by politicians. Come on, let’s be grown up.

(and go ahead, give me a ‘negative vote’ if you feel the need but I’d hope we could turn down the rhetoric and try at least to act as one country & one people even if we have different opinions)
