AFS Intercultural Director highlights impact of “A Day to Give RD” initiative

Panama City.- Pablo Viñas Guzmán, Executive Director of AFS Intercultura, Inc. and Global Leader of GivingTuesday, highlighted the significant contributions of Dominican social organizations in making positive changes in the most vulnerable sectors of the Dominican Republic through “A Day to Give RD”.

During a presentation in Panama City, Viñas Guzmán showcased the impact and achievements of this initiative, promoted and led by AFS Intercultura, Inc. since 2014, aligned with the global GivingTuesday movement. He emphasized how Dominican entities have joined and grown, involving a vast number of organizations, institutions, and citizens who promote generosity and solidarity.

The event, held in Panama City, brought together leaders from the philanthropic sector to discuss the future of generosity and explore best practices for mobilizing resources and promoting social change in their communities.

“I am very proud to share AFS’s experience of promoting A Day to Give RD over the past 10 years. This movement has enabled more than 150 organizations and thousands of volunteers to unite in a day of generosity that has had a profound impact on our communities,” said Viñas Guzmán.

Among the Dominican organizations that have supported and actively participated in A Day to Give RD are Alianza ONG, Fundación NTD, Dominicana Solidaria, Fundación FACCI, ProLactarRD, Servicio Para La Paz, Fundación Creando Sonrisas, Acción Callejera, Progetto Esperanza, Funreini, SOLCA, Fundación Animales en Vilo, ASODIFIMO, AD MAIORA, Techo, Colegio SAN Juan Bautista Santiago, Aldeas Infantiles SOS, Patronato Nacional de Ciegos, and JB Foundation.

These institutions, among many others, have been key in mobilizing resources and implementing solidarity actions in the country, from volunteer initiatives to awareness campaigns and support for vulnerable communities.

During his presentation on the panel “National Experiences of Generosity,” Viñas Guzmán highlighted how collaboration with these and other organizations has allowed A Day to Give RD to become a benchmark platform for generosity in the country, mobilizing companies, institutions, and citizens.

Pablo Viñas Guzmán is the Director of AFS Intercultura, Inc., an organization with over 62 years of experience in the Dominican Republic dedicated to intercultural learning and the formation of global citizens. He is also the Global Leader of GivingTuesday, an international movement that promotes radical generosity.

Under his leadership, AFS has been a pioneer in implementing A Day to Give RD, mobilizing resources and creating a significant impact on Dominican society.
