Rains leave 624,680 without water as 37 aqueducts go out of service

Santo Domingo.- The National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA) reports that 37 aqueducts remain out of service, impacting 624,680 users, with five of these aqueducts partially affected. The disruption is primarily due to increased turbidity from recent heavy rains.

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) also provided an update, noting that 1,767 people have been relocated to safe locations, with three individuals rescued. Additionally, 54 communities are currently isolated due to flooding and difficult road conditions, though no roads or bridges have been structurally damaged. The COE further indicated that 489 homes were impacted by the rains, including three that were entirely destroyed.
