U.S. embassy issues urgent alert amid widespread flooding in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo – The U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic has issued an urgent safety alert following the declaration of a red alert by the country’s Emergency Operations Center (COE), as relentless rainfall continues to batter the nation.

Provinces on High Alert

🔴 Red Alert:

• Santo Domingo

• National District

• San Cristóbal

• Monseñor Nouel

These areas are facing severe flood risks and should be approached with extreme caution.

🟡 Yellow Alert:

• Nine additional provinces have been placed under yellow alert due to the growing danger of river overflows and landslides.

Citizens—especially U.S. nationals—are advised to stay informed through official channels, avoid travel in affected zones, and follow all safety instructions issued by local authorities and emergency services.
