Weather forecast intensifies

According to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), heavy rainfall began early Friday in multiple regions and is expected to intensify throughout the afternoon. It will be accompanied by thunderstorms and strong wind gusts.

In a public statement, Indomet explained that the worsening conditions are being driven by a tropical trough system (“vaguada”), creating a highly humid and unstable atmosphere.

From early morning hours and continuing through the day, the trough will generate scattered to moderate showers, cloud cover, and thunderstorms in various regions,” Indomet reported.

The institute also noted that rainfall and cloudiness are expected to gradually diminish during the night.
