Jet Set owner Antonio Espaillat appears before Attorney General
Santo Domingo.- Antonio Espaillat, owner of the Jet Set nightclub, appeared at the Attorney General’s Office accompanied by his lawyer Miguel Valerio, his sister Maribel, and his chief of security. According to Valerio, Espaillat responded to a summons and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
The inquiry relates to the tragic roof collapse at Jet Set on April 8 during a performance by merengue singer Rubby Pérez. The incident, which occurred around 1:00 a.m., resulted in 236 confirmed deaths and 180 injuries.
An expert investigation team — including national and international specialists in seismic engineering and forensic analysis — has submitted a preliminary report to authorities. The team is led by Leonardo Reyes Madera of the National Office for Seismic Assessment and includes experts from Spain, Chile, and the U.S.
Among the deceased were prominent figures such as former baseball players Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco, Monte Cristi governor Nelsy Cruz, designer Martín Polanco, a member of Rubby Pérez’s band, and Pérez himself.

We need a death sentence for people like him. Punish the rich, it’s time.
Now he’ll pay his bond and be out again. Following the rules.
