Tourism Minister Collado demands faster progress in Colonial City
Santo Domingo.- Tourism Minister David Collado issued a stern warning on Tuesday to the contractors working on the Colonial City restoration project, demanding that they increase their workforce and accelerate progress or face legal consequences for delays.
Collado specifically insisted that Las Mercedes Street must be completed within the month, emphasizing his frustration with the slow pace of the project. “If you don’t increase the workload and hire more staff starting today, I will be forced to take legal action,” he stated publicly.
He also ordered the companies to present a new, detailed, and conclusive work schedule immediately to ensure the project stays on track.

Are the insufficient workforce quotas because of employer decisions not to hire? Is the labor pool drying up? Could it be contractors are not being reimbursed for project costs exceeding the budget be the cause of delays? Could it be fallout of the 80-20 workforce quota rule?
