Tourism Ministry invests RD$600 million to revitalize Boca Chica beachfront

Boca Chica.- Tourism Minister David Collado announced a RD$600 million investment to revamp Boca Chica’s beachfront and surrounding infrastructure. The plan includes rebuilding the boardwalk from San Andrés Beach to Boca Chica, paving nearby streets, and upgrading the drainage and wastewater systems.

As part of the initiative, three new parks—including Plaza Los Caracoles and a children’s park—will be constructed. A local tourism cluster will also be established, and training programs for youth in hospitality will be implemented in partnership with universities.

Vendors will receive stainless steel equipment for their booths and access to preferential loans through PROMYPIME to help grow their businesses. Work is set to begin in 90 days, following a technical survey. Collado emphasized that the project will bring Boca Chica’s beach up to the standards of the country’s top tourist destinations.

It seems government has been throwing money at Boca Chica for years on end to improve this, improve that, and not showing results. So, what does it do? Throw more cash at it. It is a black hole swallowing the people’s money. Leaders… do something good that lasts.

While they plan to improve conditions, they also need to do something about the business culture of “price gouging” perpetrated against foreigners.

Improve what? Just get rid of the price gougers and non authorized businesses. Get rid of the people charging you just to get into boca chica and then the ones that charge you to park there! Then you can bother spending money on that dump. Ese lugar da pena!
