Tourism Ministry launches street reopening schedule in Colonial City
Santo Domingo.- Tourism Minister David Collado announced that newly renovated streets in Santo Domingo’s Colonial City will be opened every Friday, with the aim of speeding up the area’s restoration. Starting this Saturday, weekly maps will be published in both print and digital media to inform the public about accessible routes and open businesses.
During a recent visit, Collado officially reopened Billini and Duarte streets for pedestrian and vehicle traffic. He emphasized that the remodeling work is being carried out with full transparency and in coordination with the Cultural Heritage Office. The government has also urged contractors to meet deadlines, warning that legal action will be taken if they fall behind.
The entire Colonial City renovation project is expected to be completed by December 2026.
