Cabarete Butterfly Effect 2025 sets new record with 160 women participants
Cabarete, Puerto Plata, DR.- The 17th edition of Cabarete Butterfly Effect, held July 2–5 under the theme “Bravery,” attracted a record‑breaking 160 women to the vibrant coastal town. Founded by Michelle Bourdeau, the annual gathering brings together women from across the globe for an empowering blend of outdoor adventures, community service and leadership development.
Participants explored the Caribbean’s natural beauty through paddleboarding on Yásica River, yoga sessions on the beach and catamaran sailing, with the option to try kitesurfing. A beach cleanup at La Boca, organized in partnership with the Corito Sostenible foundation, underscored the event’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
Leadership talks at Ojo Lax Club featured influential figures such as Dr. Raysa Perrone of Green Garden, trauma therapist Martina Holzach, wellness educator Sarah Wolf, “She is the Universe” founder Laura Peña and Birgitt Heinsen of Ocean World and the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster. Their insights on female empowerment resonated deeply with attendees.
The festival’s spirited conclusion at Millennium Resort & Spa included a poolside celebration that highlighted the camaraderie and mutual support at the heart of Butterfly Effect. Bourdeau and her team praised the participants’ enthusiasm and outlined plans to expand the event to other Dominican destinations, furthering their mission to foster women’s confidence and well‑being nationwide.
Sponsorship from RealtorDR, Andari Spa, Fresh Fruit Dominicana, Millennium Resort & Spa, The Noom and more made this year’s edition possible, ensuring that each new wave of attendees departs with fresh inspiration and strengthened connections.
