New suspension bridge completed on Pico Duarte Trail
A new suspension bridge over the La Guácara River on the Matagrande-Pico Duarte Trail has been completed and is now ready for use, enhancing safety and strengthening ecotourism infrastructure along one of the main routes to Pico Duarte.
The pedestrian-only bridge was funded by the NGO Hispaniola Conservancy, with the support of allies and donors committed to conservation and sustainable development in the Dominican Republic. Built with galvanized steel cables and durable materials, the structure ensures safer crossings for hikers while protecting the surrounding ecosystem.
The project, part of the “Adopt a Protected Area” program coordinated with the Ministry of Environment’s Vice Ministry of Protected Areas and Biodiversity, benefits both visitors to Armando Bermúdez National Park and nearby communities that rely on ecotourism for local development.

Nice good job ….
