Air Caraïbes expands Paris routes to Samaná and Punta Cana
Santo Domingo.- French airline Air Caraïbes will add two weekly direct flights on the Paris-Samaná route and plans to introduce an additional Paris-Punta Cana flight by the end of the year. The announcement follows Air France’s recent resumption of Paris-Punta Cana service, part of the Dominican government’s efforts to regain the French market.
Currently, Air Caraïbes operates up to seven weekly flights to Punta Cana and up to three to Santo Domingo during the winter season. The new Paris-Orly–Samaná (El Catey) route will begin next winter, using modern Airbus A350 aircraft. Airline president Marc Rochet highlighted the Dominican Republic’s strong tourism appeal as a key factor in expanding services.
Tourism Minister David Collado expressed gratitude to Air Caraïbes for filling the gap left by Air France’s 2023 route discontinuation. The Dominican Republic aims to boost French tourism, which fell from an annual average of 225,000 visitors to just over 144,000 in 2024.
