Abinader highlights need for new road linking Miches and El Seibo

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader emphasized the need to build a new road connecting Miches with the provincial capital, El Seibo, to support the area’s growing tourism industry. His remarks came during the inauguration of the luxury Zemí Miches All-Inclusive Resort, where he noted that improved road infrastructure is essential to facilitate travel for both visitors and workers in the expanding hotel zone.

Abinader explained that constructing the new road will be a long-term project, so in the meantime, the government will assess upgrades to the existing route that crosses the eastern mountain range. The current road, he acknowledged, is narrow and full of curves, which complicates transit and limits regional development.

Businessman Frank Elías Rainieri, CEO of Grupo Puntacana and investor in the Zemí Miches project, also underscored the importance of the Seibo–Miches highway for the province’s sustainable growth. He stated that the improved connection would not only ease access for employees but also attract thousands of tourists eager to experience the region’s culture and hospitality.

This road has been neglected for years on end. Commercial enterprises and the public have suffered the neglect. The road has to be widened at the entrance to/from Miches for sure.
