Abinader inaugurates Punta Cana Free Trade Zone

Punta Cana.- President Luis Abinader inaugurated the Punta Cana Free Trade Zone (PCFTZ) on Wednesday, marking a major milestone in consolidating the Dominican Republic as the Caribbean’s leading logistics, aeronautical, and industrial center. The complex, the first Air, Sea, and Land Logistics Center in the region, is expected to generate over 9,000 direct and indirect jobs and significantly boost the nation’s global competitiveness.

During the ceremony, Abinader emphasized that the Dominican Republic is now the most important logistics hub in the Caribbean, thanks to projects like this one and other strategic investments such as the Manzanillo port project and the expansion of HIT operations. He highlighted that these initiatives not only enhance trade and investment but also translate into sustainable development and new opportunities for Dominicans across the country.

Owned by Grupo Puntacana and led by Frank Elías Rainieri, the PCFTZ integrates advanced manufacturing, aeronautical services, and international distribution. Its key components include an Air Cargo Hub, a Fuel Terminal for cargo aircraft, a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) area, and a modern Industrial Zone and Administrative Center—all aimed at diversifying the national economy and deepening the country’s integration into global value chains.
