El Seibo to inaugurate new bullring honoring centuries-old tradition

El Seibo.- One of El Seibo’s strongest cultural symbols is its centuries-old bullfighting tradition. This heritage—passed down through generations—will soon gain a new home with the upcoming inauguration of the Seibo Bullring.

Senator Santiago Zorrilla, who has advocated for the project since 2017, emphasized that El Seibo’s bullfighting style is unique and fundamentally different from practices in other countries. He explained that the bulls are never harmed—there are no banderillas or physical injuries. Instead, bullfighters engage the animal in a display of agility and endurance, preserving its integrity while showcasing skill and bravery.

This non-violent approach has become a defining cultural hallmark of the province, drawing crowds who celebrate both the bullfighter’s talent and the animal’s strength. The new bullring, to be inaugurated by Tourism Minister David Collado, is expected to boost cultural tourism and support the preservation of one of El Seibo’s most cherished traditions.
