My goal is to reach a digital economy: Danilo Medina

Santo Domingo.- Dominican president and PLD presidential candidate Danilo Medina said his goal is to reach a digital economy as an opportunity to eradicate poverty and improve the standard of living for Dominicans.

According to the head of state, other countries have achieved it, such as Singapore, where no one uses paper anymore and all jobs are computerized. "So, if we want to compete with a world that is opening up, we have to form the necessary talent," said Medina during an interview with Dominican TV host Jatnna Tavarez.

Medina mentioned he is developing the National Literacy Plan ‘Quisqueya Learns with you’ aimed at overcoming illiteracy in the country. "I haven’t been able to conclude that program because the statistics were underestimated. It is not true that we only had 950,000 illiterate people. The number of illiterates in the country is over one million."
