Ministry of Environment denounces Playa Palmera Hotel for illegal coastal occupation

Uvero Alto.- The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has accused the Playa Palmera Hotel in Uvero Alto, Punta Cana, of illegally occupying a 60-meter coastal strip that, by law, belongs to the Dominican public. The hotel reportedly lacks a property title, a presidential decree, and the necessary permits from environmental and municipal authorities.
Despite multiple notifications since September, the establishment has allegedly ignored the government’s warnings. In response, the Residents’ Community of Playa Palmera Beach Resort has condemned the Ministry’s decision to proceed with the demolition of the community’s social clubhouse.
The residential complex’s representatives argue that the Ministry acted arbitrarily by issuing Resolution No. DJ-RAS-4-2024-0015 and stress that the demolition would harm property owners, workers, and residents. They also claim that proceeding without a court ruling would be an abuse of power, as an administrative appeal and a precautionary measure to suspend the decision are still pending.
This situation at Playa Palmera is a good example of project developers, owners, having disrespect of the laws.
The story is true, this use to be Castaways Restaurant and Bar at Playa Palmera in Uvero Alto. It would be a credible article if they used an actual picture of the beach bar, this picture is no where near the resort.
That is El Navegante, located between Sirenis and Excellence. It has been there for decades, just minding its own business. Obviously, a new development is moving in. At this time, there was always access to the beach. No doubt, with the new development another access point will be restricted.
Do agree with you, the photo appears to be El Navegante.
