La Altagracia.- Brigades from the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), RD Vial, and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) are continuing operations to remove unauthorized billboards along several roadways, including the Verón–Punta Cana tourist district.
On Wednesday, teams dismantled unpermitted advertising structures located between Los Manantiales and the entrance to Cabeza de Toro. The effort forms part of a national campaign launched in June to reduce visual pollution, enhance road safety, and improve the overall appearance of major highways.
According to Manuel Gómez, head of signage for the Verón–Punta Cana District Board, many of these billboards and posters had been installed without authorization for years. He confirmed that the removal of illegal advertising materials will continue over the coming days.

All billboards should be removed. The huge LED monster at the Cabeza de Toro crossroad should be removed. It bright display at night can blind drivers approaching it.
It is law in Chile not to have signage other than transit and hazard signs on its highways. It is nice to travel hundreds of kilometers there without the pollution of billboards. Tourists love it. Signage is only allow within city urban areas. The RD should do same. However, RD gov’t and business allies are lockstep to only allow signage of the favored.
It is noteworthy to mention, the biggest billboard offenders are politicians during election campaigns. How much you want to bet during the next election campaign period these very same roadways being cleaned will have political pollution ruining appearances.
