Officials find ‘serious’ morass at gas stations
Santo Domingo.- Three cabinet ministries on Wednesday announced measures to organize the fuels market, after having found “serious violations at stations selling liquid fuels and propane gas.”
In a meeting at the Environment Ministry between the ministers of Industry and Commerce Temístocles Montás; Gonzalo Castillo, of Public Works, and Francisco Domínguez, of Environment, the officials said of 1,304 gas stations inspected, only 22% have the Public Works permit; only 26% have the Environment license and only 2% have insurance policies.
Moreover, only 22% have the mandatory construction permit issued by Public Works.
In the case of propane gas stations, of the 1,364 inspected only 11% have the permit from Public Works; 20% from Environment; 9% have insurance policies and 21% have construction permits.
