Fresenius Kabi medical devices announces US$25.0M expansion
Haina, Dominican Republic.- Fresenius Kabi on Fri. began work on a major expansion of his medical devices production site in Haina (south), which will create around 500 jobs.
President Danilo Medina headed the groundbreaking for the expansion of around 7,400 square meters (80,000 square feet), which will significantly increase the capacity in Haina by incorporating new assembly lines of plasma kits, injection molding equipment, sterilization units and dedicated warehouse space.
“The completion of the expansion is scheduled for the end of 2019 and new employees, including production workers, technical staff, engineers and managers, will join a Fresenius Kabi workforce in Haina that currently has around 3,000. The total investment is more than € 20 million (US$25 million),” the company said in a statement.
The Haina plant manufactures and exports aphaeresis systems for the collection of plasma and platelets, as well as medical devices for the separation of blood.
