TSS data reveal that 30% of public servants earn more than RD $ 50,000

The contributable average salary exceeds RD $ 41,000.

Santo Domingo.- Statistics from the Dominican Social Security Treasury (TSS) as of March this year reveal that the public administration accounts for 645,193 contributing workers, with an average contributable salary of RD$41,836.01. This makes it the second-largest economic sector contributing to the system, surpassed only by the Service sector, which has 1,941,797 workers and an average contributable salary of RD$36,596.83.

According to the Statistical Bulletin of the Contributory Regime of the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS), 30% of the contributions reported by the Dominican government come from salaries exceeding RD$50,000.

Compared to March 2024, the TSS registered an increase of 16,951 public sector contributors, representing a 2.37% rise, along with an absolute variation in the average contributable salary of RD$2,388.33, which equates to a 5.94% increase.

Overall, of all contributions reported to the SDSS, approximately 70.22% (1,727,308) come from the private sector, while the public sector accounts for 29.78% with 732,602 contributions.

According to the Central Bank, the number of individuals aged 15 or older employed by the state reached 719,056 in the first quarter of 2025, with women accounting for 55.35% and men for 44.64% of the total.

The data shows an annual increase of 26.64% in public sector employment, meaning 47,049 new jobs were added to public administration over the past year.
