Isaac’s deluge, stiff winds wreaked havoc on power lines
Santo Domingo.- The State-owned electric utility (CDEEE) Monday announced receiving at least 3, 479 customer complaints and reports of failures over the weekend, as Tropical Storm Isaac’s downpours and stiff winds wreaked havoc on power lines across the country.
In a statement, the CDEEE said the storm’s winds and rains pushed 8,000 feet of power lines to the ground, damaged 26 transformers, downed 66 power line posts and damaged 169 circuits nationwide.
It said Isaac’s fury affected the distributor Edesur the most, but by Sunday afternoon there were only five circuits without power, around 7%, two in Bahoruco and one eachin San Cristobal, Peravia and San Juan province.
