Spain seizes 107 packages of cocaine shipped from Caucedo Port

SANTO DOMINGO. – A shipment of 107 packages of cocaine was seized in Spain Monday after it was tracked by the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD), in a container full of recycled plastic shipped from Caucedo Port, Boca Chica, by an international drug ring.

The DNCD said the cocaine is part of another bust in the same terminal, shipped by a woman identified as Yeni Aquino Brito, in a container allegedly packed in the Manoguayabo Industrial Zone, Santo Domingo West. The 107 packages were detected in Spain within container number AMFU8887370.

The DNCD said the drug was seized in the Andalusia port of Algeciras, Cadiz, for which several people have been questioned, including Ramon Hilario Rosario, Juan Castro and Pablo Moreno Rosado. "This case was tracked to make sure the Spanish authorities seized drug, a task where U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Container Control and Security Department intelligence took part."

He said the DNCD tracked the shipment during 13 days once the ship sailed from Caucedo to the island of Martinique and to Rotterdam Port, Holland, and then to Spain. No weight or value was provided for the cocaine.
