171 years: Society demands respect for Dominican Constitution

Santiago.- With a callto respect the Constitution, representatives from government agencies marchedto commemorate the 171st anniversary of the first Constitution ofthe Republic.

Around 2,300 students,police, military, Education Ministry and other government agencies and SantoDomingo State University UASD participated in the walk, which set off from GranTeatroCibao, and ended at Plaza Constitution.

UASD regional director GenaroRodriguez warned that talk of amending the Constitution again shows “institutionalpoverty” and reveals that some do what they please in society. "Talkingabout placing an armor or padlocks on the Constitution isn’t the answer."
