Consumer Protection warns of tainted baby formula

Santo Domingo.- National Consumer Protection Institute (Proconsumidor) director Anina Del Castillo on Fri. issued an alert on a batch of Nutribén AC Digest infant formula, from Spain, contaminated with a dangerous bacteria which poses a grave risk to children’s health and life.

She said the product is packaged in 400 grams with expiration date 13/12/2018 and that so far have entered the country 3,912 units. She said the product has been distributed in other countries such as Portugal, Georgia and Albania.

“This is the bacterium Enterobacter Sakazakii that affects especially premature babies,” the official said in a statement.
