Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has reduced the number of provinces under green alert from 17 to 3 following an improvement in weather conditions at the beginning of this Semana Santa holiday.
According to COE sub-director, Carlos Paulino Cárdenas, the provinces that remain under alert are La Vega, Hato Mayor and Monseñor Nouel. According to the latest bulletin from the institution published Sunday, good weather conditions are forecast for the north, northeast and southeast regions but the frontal system over Puerto Rico will continue to create unstable and wet conditions over the eastern and central parts of the country, with moderate rainfall with the occasional thunderstorms and wind gusts.
Paulino informed that the use of motorized leisure vehicles such as jet skis and motor boats was prohibited as a safety measure for local and foreign tourists using the country’s beaches during the peak vacation days, from Thursday to Easter Sunday.
