Dominican Republic Police takes major strides
Santo Domingo.- The police surveillance system by quadrants is a patrolling technique that consists of dividing a geographic space into minimal units to assign it to a certain number of officers who will be responsible for security and prosecuting crime in those areas.
This is the model that the Dominican Government will implement as part of the National Plan for Citizen Security, and it’s the main task entrusted to the new director, Eduardo Then, announced Monday the Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vasquez.
The technique is used by most police officers in the world. It has been effective in countries such as Germany, the United States, Colombia and Chile, affirmed political scientist and security expert Daniel Pou.
Attempts to apply it have also been made here. In 2014, when the management of General Manuel Castro Castillo, the modality as a pilot began to be implemented in some areas of Santo Domingo. Statistics from the Police itself revealed by then improvements in the reduction of crime.
This is all talk about what is to be done to combat crime at this time. The proof of the quadrant method working is to observe a positive increase of arrests and decrease of crime levels in the tough barrios of Santo Domingo and Santiago, places where the police fear to tread. The new director should give some priority on anti crime efforts in these barrios. The rest of the country should see some anti crime improvements too.
The new broom sweeps clean.
Message have to be sent to barrios , those arrested would spent time building roads , bridges…working in mines ….cleaning garbage…after years of hard labor and in prison, they’ll be less eager to commit crimes….but will never happen… Till then …good luck…!!!!
Nobody should want that matrix mentality in the Dominican Republic. Isn’t that why most of you run away from your counties? Stop trying to turn our country into a first world piece of trash, prices will get so high you will be forced to move back home.
