Ministry of Defense starts VI diploma in cybersecurity and cyberdefense

The Ministry of Defense in the Dominican Republic has launched the VI Diploma in cybersecurity and cyberdefense. The program aims to train civilians and military personnel on how to ensure computer security against cyber threats in cyberspace. The training is being carried out at the Graduate School of Higher Strategic Studies of the “General Juan Pablo Duarte y Díez” Higher Institute for Defense (INSUDE) and is being attended by 132 students in a hybrid modality. The diploma will run until July 25 of this year.

During the teaching period, participants will complete a study plan designed to provide them with knowledge and practices for the secure management of information and communication technologies. The program is designed to keep up with the fast pace of technological advancement and equip participants with the necessary skills to protect against cyber attacks.

The ceremony, held in the “Mayor General José Eliseo Noble Espejo, ERD” Hall, was attended by several key personnel from the Ministry of Defense. The Director of the Graduate School of Higher Strategic Studies, Colonel Nelton Baralt Blanco, ERD (MA), offered a few words of welcome, while INSUDE’s Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Continuing Education, Brigadier General Vicente Mota Medina, ERD spoke a few words of exhortation to the students.

The Director of the Education and Professional Training Program of the Armed Forces “Great General Restorer, Gregorio Luperón,” Colonel Juan Julio Tejeda Madera, was also present at the event. The Deputy Directors of Academics and Research, Extension and Continuing Education, Colonel Wascal A. Montilla Almánzar and Colonel Rafael David Sánchez Gómez from (EGAEE), respectively, also attended.

This diploma is a significant step in ensuring that individuals in the Dominican Republic are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to protect against cyber threats. Cybersecurity and cyber defense are crucial in today’s digital age, and it is essential to ensure that individuals are aware of the risks and how to mitigate them.
