Abel: “There are those who for a thousand or three thousand pesos decide to pawn their future”

María Trinidad Sánchez —The presidential candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Abel Martínez, assured this morning that on May 19, dignity, jobs, and opportunities for agricultural producers will prevail since the Dominican people will not be confused by those who believe that they can buy everything with the state’s resources.

The opposition leader spoke at a meeting with fishermen, farmers, and milk and coconut producers of Baoba del Piñar in the province of María Trinidad Sánchez.

“There are those who for 1,000 or 3,000 pesos decide to pawn their future… you have to reflect if you stay at home and allow what is happening today to continue happening, or if you want to go to the polls with your relatives and take the path of dignity,” he said.

Abel Martinez said that if the people vote on May 19, the PRM will undoubtedly leave power.

“When they come to confuse you, think about your children and how much you are buying for meat, rice, and potatoes. You have to vote; let’s vote and take our relatives to vote,” said the opposition leader.

Eddy Lantigua, president of the fishermen’s cooperative of Rio San Juan; Félix Colón, president of the Arroyo Salado beach association and president of the party of that municipal district; Rufino Jiménez, a dairy cattle producer; and Fruto Almonte, a coconut producer, attended the meeting.

Also present were Johnny Pujols, Cabinet coordinator; Priscila D’ Óleo, deputy and aspirant for another term. In addition, the PLD provincial liaisons in that distinction, César Peña, Osvaldo (Chiqui) Vargas, and members of the Central Committee and senior party leaders.

Lamentations

The fishermen, farmers, and milk and coconut producers of Baoba del Piñar lamented the countryside’s total abandonment by the authorities.

There, they took the floor to describe the dismal state in which the producers and fishermen of the area find themselves due to the destructive policies implemented by the government, such as imports and the lack of absolute support for the agricultural sector.

Abel listens

Abel Martinez travels throughout the Dominican Republic, listening to women and men, farmers, entrepreneurs, young people, and older people.

In his meetings, he brings hope to the people who receive him as the leader of the Dominican people, in whom they place their dreams and yearnings for well-being.
