Abinader inaugurates 300 new apartments in My Housing Hato del Yaque Plan
Santiago, DR.- President Luis Abinader and Housing Minister Carlos Bonilla inaugurated 300 new apartments on Sunday as part of the My Housing Hato del Yaque Plan in the Santiago province. This marks the fourth stage of the initiative by MIVED, with a total of 890 homes delivered in less than a year, leaving only 26% of the planned 1,200 apartments to be distributed in the area.
With an investment of RD$2,796 million, My Housing Hato del Yaque aims to improve living conditions for over 4,000 people who previously resided in vulnerable conditions along the banks of Arroyo Gurabo’s ravines and rivers. Minister Bonilla highlighted the significance of this housing development, emphasizing its transformative impact on the lives of families who once faced precarious living conditions.
The project, divided into three lots, comprises 150 buildings with a total of 1,200 apartments featuring three bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, kitchen, and balcony. The first phase commenced in March 2022, with subsequent deliveries in June 2023, October of the same year, and December, culminating in the recent handover of 300 new homes in March 2024.
In addition to providing housing, the complex encompasses 19,848 square meters of green areas, over 2,200 square meters of institutional space, sports facilities, play areas, and ample parking. The development has significantly contributed to the local economy, generating more than 2,500 direct and indirect jobs in Hato del Yaque, Santiago province, through the construction sector.
The My Housing Plan, championed by President Luis Abinader and Minister Carlos Bonilla, facilitates home acquisition for families across various socioeconomic strata. The plan offers state support through subsidies, enabling access to well-located housing projects equipped with green spaces and essential services for human development.
MIVED has successfully completed several projects under the My Housing Plan, including Ciudad Modelo, Hato Nuevo, Los Salados, La Barranquita, Los Llanos, Villa Progreso, Las Matas de Farfán, Santa Cruz, Santiago Rodríguez, and Colinas del Arroyo II. The ongoing delivery of homes in Hato del Yaque and San Luis brings the total number of apartments built in four years to nearly 8,000.
The event was attended by various officials, including the governor of Santiago, Rosa Santos; Senator Eduardo Estrella; elected Mayor Ulises Rodríguez; Administrative Minister Igor Rodríguez; and other dignitaries who joined in the celebration of this housing milestone.
