Police eliminate alleged Los Fieros gang leader

Quisqueya – The alleged leader of the Los Fieros gang, Johan Fortunato Feliz (Moreno Dollar), 24, died early yesterday morning during an “exchange of gunfire,” according to the police, after refusing to be arrested. There were nine arrest warrants for him.

He reported that the incident occurred in the room of a cabin on San Vicente de Paul Avenue, Santo Domingo East, where he was hiding because he had escaped from a penitentiary in San Pedro de Macoris. He was serving a sentence for multiple crimes, including homicides and drug trafficking.

Diego Pesqueira, the police spokesman, said that the agents ordered “Moreno Dollar” to leave the room with his hands up. Still, he responded with a volley of shots from an illegal firearm, which forced the agents to repel the attack. Multiple gunshots struck him.

He said he was accompanied by Johnson Junior Ramirez Sierra (Junior), 27, who was also wanted according to the uniform. He was apprehended in the structure’s bathroom.

He detailed that two firearms were seized in the place, the first one without an identified mark, 9 mm. caliber, serial 92155, nickel-plated, with its magazine and four cartridges, as well as one in the chamber.

Regarding the other firearm, he said that it lacked a legible mark, caliber 7.65 mm, with its magazine and a cartridge, serial 78U55192, as well as several Ziploc bags with plant material, presumably marijuana.

Dispute between gangs
According to the police, Los Fieros were involved in a confrontation for control of territory and trafficking of prohibited drugs with the criminal group Los Fogones, which operates in the Quisqueya municipality in the eastern province of San Pedro de Macoris.

According to spokesman Pesqueira, the leader of the Los Fogones gang is Ramfis Theophille, and he has ten arrest warrants for violent deaths and injuries to people.
