In the head municipality, the president inaugurated the Leonel Placido soccer field in the Gregorio Luperón sports complex of this city.

Puerto Plata—President Luis Abinader made an extensive tour of the province of Puerto Plata, inaugurating several essential works.

The president began his activities in the province by inaugurating the El Mango—La Piragua highway, a long-awaited project by this community.

He then flew by helicopter to the municipal district of La Isabela Histórica, in Luperón, to inaugurate the restoration of the Historical and Archaeological Park of La Isabela.

During the ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Milagros Germán, highlighted the cultural and historical importance of the work, as well as the dedication and commitment of Ángel de la Cruz of the Presidential Commission for the Support of Provincial Development.

The main building was completely remodeled, with an investment of more than 190 million pesos, including constructing a kiosk, restaurant, corridors, parking, bleachers, the entrance to the park, restrooms, and a sea view area.

The president inaugurated the Leonel Placido soccer field facilities in the head municipality within this city’s Gregorio Luperón sports complex.

There, the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Igor Rodríguez, highlighted the work done by the current government administration “in favor of sports” in the province, including remodeling the Fabio Rafael González basketball court in the same complex, constructing the Club Deportivo Fantástico’s roof at the request of NBA player Chris Duarte, and reconstructing the José Briceño baseball stadium.

The president concluded his visit with a tour of the José Briceño stadium’s facilities, where he received explanations of the work being carried out there and met with the directors of the Dominican Baseball League and the business people promoting a baseball team for Puerto Plata in that league.

The head of state was accompanied by the president of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), José Ignacio Paliza, Senator Ginette Bournigal, Governor Claritza Rochtte, several deputies, and other officials.
