Cassandre Jacques withdraws from Miss World Dominican pageant over nationality controversy

Santo Domingo.- Cassandre Jacques, representing San Juan de la Maguana in the Miss World Dominican pageant, has announced her decision to withdraw due to controversy surrounding her nationality. In an emotional statement, Jacques explained that after careful reflection, she chose to step down from the competition, describing it as a difficult but necessary decision.

“With a heart full of mixed feelings, I want to share a decision that has not been easy for me: I have decided to give up my participation in the Miss World Dominican pageant. This dream, which I have embraced with so much enthusiasm, effort, and dedication, has been one of the most important experiences of my life,” Jacques said.

Expressing gratitude for her supporters, Jacques added that she looks forward to future opportunities and hopes to continue receiving their encouragement as she takes on new challenges. Her withdrawal has ignited debate on social media regarding her Haitian heritage and issues of identity in pageants. The Miss World Dominican organization has yet to comment on the situation.

I don’t know what’s the problem. Just last year she was representing Haiti. Does she have dual nationality ? She’s a beautiful Haitian woman who should represented Haiti not the Dr. I’ve always said theirs an agenda by the international community to unite the island.

If there is an agenda (and I’m not really sold on that but, let’s assume for a minute…), then trying do it through a beauty pageant is pretty much the weakest way of doing it. Just my $.02.

I always wondered why people l like yourself love to ignore the obvious. There has forever been subtle warning signs and many for decades were sounding the alarms but we’re dismissed as foolish conspiracy theories. Today our concerns have proven to be true, the DR is in the middle of an immigration crisis with its next door neighbor but yet there many like you who still have doubts. Ignorance is bliss.

There should never be an immigration crisis. We are all part of one island, and people should have the freedom to move across its entirety, just as they do in Canada. Do residents of Quebec need a passport or visa to travel to Montreal? No, they don’t. Similarly, the island of Hispaniola should not be divided by borders. We are united on this island, and it’s time we promote that unity!

Let’s put an end to racism and division. By embracing one another, we can achieve so much more together. We are not just Haitians or Dominicans; we are Hispaniola, and that is what truly matters.

you cant flip-flop nationalities when is convenient, ussualy you can only compete in international competions representing one country. even if you have multiple nationalities.

Do you mean the way Dominicans do on a regular bases? One minute Dominicans want to be white, Indio, Mulatto…etc everything but accepting their African history!

Good decision on her part. She can go represent Haiti as she should. Let a true Dominican queen represent us.

Historically Dominicans don’t like Hatians anyway because of their African descent, and your comment proves that. Strange thing is Hatians and Dominicans are of African Descent.

She shouldn’t compete for the world title because she is not Dominican. Maybe she she consider representing her own race and nationality

That is a lie and misinformation
They dislike Haitians cause they were slave brought to the island by France to kill the natives of the island call Hispaniola. They owned their land and this people came to kill them

Let’s end the division! Many of you may not even realize the name of our island: Hispaniola. The Haitian Republic and the Dominican Republic are simply two regions on this island. It’s straightforward – we are one island and one people, comprised of individuals of African descent in all colors, shapes, and sizes.

We all belong to this island, and everyone should have the freedom to move freely across it, just like people do in Canada. Do residents of Quebec need a passport or visa to travel to Montreal? No, they don’t. In the same way, Hispaniola shouldn’t be divided by borders. We are united here, and it’s time to celebrate that unity!

Let’s put a stop to racism and division. By embracing one another, we can achieve so much more together. We are not just Haitians or Dominicans; we are Hispaniola, and that is what truly matters.

Dominicans have a problem with identity. If this had been a woman from Switzerland, they would have been very happy to have her vompete as a Dominavn.

Well! if Miss. Cassandra represented Haiti in the past she can only represent another country if she changed her nationality to that country. Fair enough.

I am Haitian American, I went to DR 1 month ago , I went from punta Cana to Sosua by Bus ???? just to see what the country look like and it’s basically Haiti #2 with a lot of light skin people who hate being in the sun ☀️ ???? , I spent $1500 on that 5 day trip , and I understand the whole immigration thing and it’s purpose. Pray for your Neighbors ???? we need it

Alfredo Acosta

That’s what’s wrong with my Dominican people. They think they are not black because of the Spanish mix. Since the history of the Haitian people is that of misery, the Dominicans don’t want any part of it. When you look in the past, the island we now call Hispañola, used to be called Ayti before the break up by the French, Americans and the Spanish. I think my people need to stop the nonsense and let our cousins back in the fold and help bring them up to speed with the rest of the world. The Dominican Republic has an opportunity to bring peace to the island while looking like a jewel to the rest of the world.
