Cassandre Jacques withdraws from Miss World Dominican pageant over nationality controversy
Santo Domingo.- Cassandre Jacques, representing San Juan de la Maguana in the Miss World Dominican pageant, has announced her decision to withdraw due to controversy surrounding her nationality. In an emotional statement, Jacques explained that after careful reflection, she chose to step down from the competition, describing it as a difficult but necessary decision.
“With a heart full of mixed feelings, I want to share a decision that has not been easy for me: I have decided to give up my participation in the Miss World Dominican pageant. This dream, which I have embraced with so much enthusiasm, effort, and dedication, has been one of the most important experiences of my life,” Jacques said.
Expressing gratitude for her supporters, Jacques added that she looks forward to future opportunities and hopes to continue receiving their encouragement as she takes on new challenges. Her withdrawal has ignited debate on social media regarding her Haitian heritage and issues of identity in pageants. The Miss World Dominican organization has yet to comment on the situation.
I don’t know what’s the problem. Just last year she was representing Haiti. Does she have dual nationality ? She’s a beautiful Haitian woman who should represented Haiti not the Dr. I’ve always said theirs an agenda by the international community to unite the island.
you cant flip-flop nationalities when is convenient, ussualy you can only compete in international competions representing one country. even if you have multiple nationalities.
