Refidomsa denies involvement in irregular fuel operations

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Petroleum Refinery (Refidomsa) has firmly denied any connection to irregular fuel processing or transfer activities, emphasizing its commitment to transparent operations. Responding to allegations from a Spanish media report, Refidomsa’s president, Dr. Leonardo Aguilera, categorically rejected claims of irregular oil dealings involving the company.

Dr. Aguilera clarified that if Venezuelan oil reaches Europe, it is unrelated to Refidomsa, as the refinery does not process or re-export Venezuelan oil. He highlighted that under President Luis Abinader’s administration, the Dominican Republic has not received Venezuelan oil for any purpose, a practice that has been discontinued for seven years. Aguilera reiterated that Refidomsa acquires hydrocarbons exclusively through established commercial channels and operates with full transparency.

Refidomsa, the sole oil refinery in the Dominican Republic for over 52 years, maintains that the allegations are baseless and malicious. Aguilera underscored the company’s unwavering commitment to transparency, dismissing any links between the Dominican Republic and the alleged irregular activities as unfounded.
