Dominican Catholics celebrate Day of Our Lady of La Altagracia

Higüey.- On January 21, Dominicans gathered to celebrate the Day of Our Lady of La Altagracia, the spiritual patroness of the Dominican Republic, reaffirming their Christian faith and national identity. The Virgin of La Altagracia, honored as the protector and mother of the nation, symbolizes hope, faith, and commitment to Christian values.

The Dominican Episcopal Conference (CED) organized a special novena to deepen spiritual reflection and renew the faith of parishioners. Broadcast through digital platforms, the novena addressed themes of honesty, transparency, and integrity, inspired by the virtues of the Virgin Mary. Prayers were also raised for various causes, such as Vocations Pastoral, children, engaged couples, and Social Pastoral, emphasizing the Church’s commitment to society.

From the Sanctuary of Our Lady of La Altagracia in Higüey, thousands of devotees participated in a solemn vigil, uniting the nation and Dominicans abroad. Through prayers, songs, and testimonies, the faithful honored the Virgin as the mother of the Church and spiritual guide.
