President Abinader reviews 2028 Government Goals at Council of Ministers meeting
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña presided over the 48th Council of Ministers meeting to assess progress on the ten major goals outlined in the Government Plan for 2028. Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza stated that the meeting followed up on priorities set during the November 2023 Council session, focusing on objectives for the 2024–2028 period.
The Government’s 2028 goals include improving life expectancy, reducing the homicide rate, increasing GDP per capita, expanding the middle class, enhancing the quality infrastructure index, boosting formal employment, improving learning outcomes, reducing rural multidimensional poverty, lowering household vulnerability to climate shocks, and strengthening government effectiveness.
The session also marked the official launch of Compliance Units, which will collaborate with public institutions to ensure these objectives are met. Supported by the Tony Blair Institute, these units aim to replicate successful international models for effective governance.
