President Abinader meets with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader welcomed U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the National Palace this Thursday, where the two held a private meeting to discuss key bilateral issues. Rubio, accompanied by Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez, arrived at 11:42 a.m. and was received by Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza and Ambassador Francisco José Cantizano Nadal.
Following their private discussion in the White Room, both delegations gathered for a working lunch in the Green Room. A press briefing is expected to follow in the Ambassadors Room. The Dominican delegation included Vice President Raquel Peña, Industry and Commerce Minister Víctor Bisonó, Defense Minister Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, and Energy and Mines Minister Joel Santos. Other high-ranking officials, including military and law enforcement leaders, were also present.
The U.S. delegation was led by Patricia Aguilera, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, along with senior State Department officials Michael Needham, Michael Kozak, Michael Anton, and spokesperson Tammy Bruce. The visit underscores the continued collaboration between the U.S. and the Dominican Republic on security, trade, and regional diplomacy.
