AERODOM clarifies scheduled power putage at AILA
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Airports XXI Century (AERODOM) clarified that the power outage at Las Américas International Airport (AILA) was a scheduled maintenance operation. The interruption took place from 11:19 p.m. Thursday until 3:01 a.m. Friday and had been coordinated in advance with airlines and related parties.
AERODOM explained that such maintenance is carried out during low-traffic hours to minimize disruptions, as airports operate 24/7. While power was out, all operations were concentrated in the northern area of the terminal, which remained fully functional.
Operations have since returned to normal, though AERODOM acknowledged the inconvenience caused by longer-than-usual queues. Since 2016, AERODOM has been part of the VINCI Airports global network, managing six airports across the Dominican Republic under a concession agreement that runs until 2060.
